Imagine for a moment that the Center For Sex and Culture had a 100 million dollar budget
What would you want to see at the CFSC? What sorts of programs? Services? What sort of facility would it be in? What would you do if you were on the team to spend an
I am asking this as a mere exercise in creativity. This is in no way any commentary on the extant state of the Center...
It is just a game to play where we imagine a world where Sex and Culture got more money than the army did...

Re: Dream Big - just curious
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 9:42 PMA long time volunteer's dream for the Center for Sex and Culture
If CSC had a $100 million budget it wouldn't just be in San Francisco. The Center for Sex and Culture would have branches around the country to offer the best in sex positive education from kids to adults, impacting our current culture in a mirad of ways.
The library would be in a climate controlled space with the most up-to-date archival preservation and would be open to researches, students and the public alike. Perhaps there would be several libraries across the country.
Training programs for sex educators would be offered with continuing education credits and maybe even a certification program.
Events and classes for the public would be an ongoing thing with a full events calendar.
Support services for sex workers, grass roots educators, LGBT and BDSM communities would be offered, teaching and networking.
The CSC would be looked to by educational institutions to provide the most comprehensive sex information for the edification of their students (Including way more sex education for med students who now only receive 4 hours in the years of training they get).
CSC would not loose their community base and would stay fully integrated in working with the communities the Center was in supporting and working with other sex positive and educational organizations.
Some of this may seem like a big dream but I think there is the potential for all of this in what CSC is doing and where it could be going. The best way to make sure CSC stays around is to come participate in events, and offer any financial support, or volunteer time you can to the organization. Carol Queen and Robert Lawrence have done such amazing work in creating the Center and first and formost it is a community supported organization and a non-profit. You can help them out by going to www.sexandculture.org.
thanks for the question Captain :-)
