Lots going on in November, including a batch of great events sponsored by others. Of special note: the Generation FIVE fundraiser honoring the incredible work of Staci Haines, who brought sex-positivity to the movement to support survivors of sexual abuse. That event is on November 8. And the following Sunday we'll gather to congratulate Bay Area Bisexual Network for a big 20 years of activism and community support. Speaking of support, we have a rare chance to get together with filmmakers Amy Jo Goddard and Julie Carlson on November 16 to learn about (and contribute to) their project At Your Cervix: a film dedicated to making pelvic exams respectful and pain-free. Doors open and schmoozing starts at 7:30, and we'll start the talk and clip show at 8. Please join us, and spread the word!

Still trying to find our mystery woman from Kink Ink 2006, which I wrote a note about last time. Please visit sexandculture.org/pages/KinkInk.html -- it's a special page on our website with a pic of the last person we are trying to identify from the photo session done that night. If you have ANY idea who this woman might be and how to reach her, please let me know, or ask her to get in touch with me at carol@sexandculture.org. Without her ID, the images Carlos Batts took that night of his wife April Flores (and their whole new movie) may have to be canned. We really hope to help them contact everyone, and the women in the pic is the last person we have yet to find. Thank you!
And finally, Nude Aid is just around the corner -- more about it next time, but I'd love to hear from any artists or models who'd like to participate. (Nude Aid, our big winter benefit, features artists doing live art from live models, and participants get to take home the art! It's more fun than a barrel of Salvador Dali.)
Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th 10am-6pm -- INNER BEAUTY RETREAT for women (with Danielle & Celeste)
Wherever we look we see messages stating that we are not good enough. We are made to believe that if only we weighed less, had less cellulite, or used the perfect face cream to demolish wrinkles, we would suddenly be happy with ourselves and receive all of the love, attraction, and affection we deserve. But all the beauty treatments in the world will never turn a woman into a confident, glowing, and attractive goddess.
In this 2-day retreat, we invite you to pamper yourself with a real inner beauty makeover. You will learn to get in touch with your erotic essence and connect with your body, your desires, and your sensuality. By fully embracing this transformation, you will unfold into the passionate, beautiful, and sensual woman that you have always wanted to be and truly are inside. Erotic empowerment is the most powerful tool you can have to connect with your true self, find your voice, speak your truth and live your life to its fullest potential.
Tuesday November 6, 7-9:30 pm -- TAOIST EROTIC MASSAGE FOR WOMEN
Experience the power of sacred sexuality in this hands-on, clothes-off workshop. This 2.5 hour workshop will focus on the female as receiver. Women must attend with a partner. This workshop welcomes givers of any sex/gender identity.
We will practice a series of conscious breathwork techniques and Taoist erotic massage, which can lead to extended, full-body orgasm and an altered mind-state conducive to spiritual insights. Honestly, if you're looking to get off, this isn't for you – this is a spiritual, erotic practice that stimulates and spreads erotic energy throughout the body. It is very hot, but it isn't sex as you normally think of it. After the introduction and demonstration, we will practice the breathwork, and you will be guided through a series of different genital massage strokes. Participants will then have an opportunity to give or receive a 40 minute massage with integrated breathwork and coaching. There is no sexual interaction between the giver and receiver except for the massage itself, and all boundaries will be respected.
*Friday, November 9th, 7 pm -- ASK THE DOCTORS: FELLATIO -- Free!
GV Weekend Event. Ask the Doctors presents: Fellatio! Our resident staff sexologist Dr. Carol Queen and Dr. Robert Lawrence will explore and explain everything you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask. Everyone’s invited, so come on in and learn what there is to know about…fellatio!
Monday, 11/12, 7:30-8:30 door -- the SF JACKS

*Friday, 11/16, 7:30 pm -- AT YOUR CERVIX Soiree and Support Night
Join us in welcoming Amy Jo Goddard and Julie Carlson, whose movie-in-progress is At Your Cervix: a film dedicated to making pelvic exams respectful and pain-free. The filmmakers will come with clips to show and will tell the story of their unique, important project. No charge -- spread the word! We WILL ask anyone who's able to donate to the project so they can finish the film. If you can't make it to the soiree but want to support this great project, see below.
"At Your Cervix" is about the ways students learn to perform breast and pelvic exams in U.S. medical and nursing institutions. Featuring Gynecological Teaching Associates (GTAs), the story will illuminate the history of breast and pelvic exams and the reasons so many women have such negative experiences with these annual visits to their health care providers. Many students learn these invasive exams on women who are under anesthesia while in teaching hospitals -- often without their consent! This film will expose this unethical practice and educate viewers about their rights as patients. Our hope is that the film will be a call to action, so that women, armed with the knowledge that these exams should be comfortable, will feel empowered to demand it; and that providers will want to provide the most comfortable and competent pelvic exams possible.
We need money to finish the film. IFP (The Independent Feature Project) has agreed to be our fiscal sponsor, so you can donate tax-free through IFP. Any amount you can give will help. To give you an idea: $25 buys a pack of mini DV tapes; $50 buys us DVDs so we can send copies of our trailer to funding agencies and festivals; $100 buys us 2 hours of a cameraperson's labor; $400 will buy us one hour of a professional post-production session; $2000 would buy us a week of editing.
To support the project, please go to our website at www.atyourcervixmovie.com and click on the "support us" link. You can make a tax-deductible donation by downloading the form and sending it to IFP with your check, or if you don't care about the tax break, just donate to us through PayPal. Whatever you donate, absolutely 100% of the money we receive will go towards the completion of the film.
At CSC: 1519 Mission Suite 1. Doors open and schmoozing starts at 7:30, and we'll start the talk and clip show at 8.
Saturday, November 17th 9:30am-5:30pm -- BECOME AN EXTRAORDINARY LOVER (for men who love women) with Danielle & Celeste
